Safety & Formulation
At Serrine, we believe that luxury is synonymous with safety. Transparency is the absolute foundation of our studio. Read on to learn exactly how we formulate, who we source from, and the standards we demand.

Strictly
Methanol-Free
Methanol is an inexpensive, highly toxic solvent sometimes used illegally in unregulated or counterfeit perfumes to cut production costs. Prolonged exposure to methanol can cause severe skin irritation, toxicity through absorption, and serious health risks.
We strictly prohibit the use of methanol in our studio.
Our perfumes are crafted exclusively using high-purity, cosmetic-grade ethyl alcohol (ethanol). To guarantee the absolute safety of our base, we demand that our raw material suppliers provide comprehensive Safety Data Sheets (SDS). Furthermore, our materials are vetted through rigorous third-party laboratory analysis, utilizing Gas Chromatography, to ensure a non-detectable methanol presence (< 0.01%).
We do not compromise on the origins of our materials. We work exclusively with highly reputable, globally recognized fragrance houses and raw material suppliers.
Before a raw ingredient ever enters our studio, our suppliers must provide strict documentation, including Certificates of Analysis (COA) and complete IFRA Certificates of Conformity.
This meticulous approach to sourcing extends to every product we make. For our candles, we purposefully utilize a specialized soy-micro-wax blend. While this means our candles are not vegan, this specific formulation was deliberately chosen for its superior fragrance retention, incredible hot throw, and exceptionally smooth burn, prioritizing maximum performance and stability for your space.

IFRA Compliant
Blending
Not all fragrance oils are created equal, and even natural essential oils can be sensitizing if used incorrectly. That is why every single formulation developed at Serrine strictly adheres to the safe-usage guidelines set by the International Fragrance Association (IFRA).
We calculate our fragrance loads based on the most current IFRA Standards to ensure that the concentration of aroma chemicals in our perfumes, room sprays, diffusers, and candles falls well within the scientifically established safety thresholds for human exposure and skin contact.
We don't just rely on supplier claims; we verify them. We independently commission accredited chemistry laboratories here in the Philippines to test every batch of alcohol we acquire from our supplier.
This double-layer of security ensures that the cosmetic-grade alcohol entering our studio is exactly what it claims to be before it is ever blended into your perfume.
